Skin Cells
Preferred Cell Systems™ offers the ability to culture and measure the function and response of different types of skin cells, including dermal and epidermal cells, keratinocytes, melanocytes and fibroblasts.
Skin cell types are used in a wide variety of applications such as wound healing, screening of skin care products and cosmetics, skin cancer, burn therapy and disorders associated with the skin.
Screening of potential toxic agents is of particular importance in toxicology and Preferred Cell Systems™ has developed SkinGlo™-Tox HT for this purpose.
Skin cells are usually cultured on adherent, coated, growth surfaces, which can be prepared using the 96-well plates included with all assay kits from Preferred Cell Systems™. These kits also incorporate the readout/endpoint reagents used to measure different types of skin cell function and response.
- SkinGLO™ assays incorporate a bioluminescence readout.
- SkinFLUOR™ assays incorporate a fluorescence readout.
- SkinLIGHT™ assays incorporate an absorbance/colorimetric readout.
These assays have the flexibility for the investigator to use their own growth medium and culture protocols, besides being modified for other purposes.
